The perfect treat – in the gorgeous Victorian townhouse where Charles Dickens lived and wrote for much of his life, you will be able to see a lot of material he produced, used, and was inspired by. There are also some brilliant events taking place inspired by the many stories and characters he created.
Another beautiful park, it features a gorgeous Japanese garden and some peacocks walking around. It’s home to Holland Park Opera, so you can catch a show and enjoy stunning music. A secret gem nearby is the Leighton House Museum. It was build by Victorian artist Frederic Leighton as a home and a studio. Much of his artwork is hanging on the walls, and the interior itself is an absolute work of art, with my favourite rooms being the Arab extension and the Silk room.
A stunning , intimate venue where shows are candle-lit, offers the cosiest atmosphere at this time of year. The interior is beautifully tudor and the shows are always great quality.
For something quieter, wander though Kensington Gardens to find the Serpentine, a large lake in Hyde Park. On the banks are the Serpentine Galleries, home to ever-fascinating exhibitions from rising stars and international names, or you can take to the water in a rowboat or try out the Solarshuttle – the UK’s first solar powered vessel.
Next door to the Donmar Warehouse, this indoor street food market has an incredible variety of world cuisine options, a great vibe. Sit indoors or outdoors while waiting for a performance to start or to have a minute of rest in the middle of all your shopping.
