July 2022 – One Aldwych, London’s cultured, independent hotel, is upping the ante this summer with a stellar line-up of cultural events and experiences. The hotel has collaborated with fellow Covent Garden based brands Somerset House, Donmar Warehouse and the Novello Theatre as part of an ongoing creative campaign to celebrate and shine a light on the local institutions that give the destination its spirit and soul; encouraging guests to make the most of the inspiring experiences on the hotel’s doorstep.
Collaborations for summer 2022 include:
Somerset House x This Bright Land
A summer celebration of community and culture, curated by Gareth Pugh and Carson McColl, This Bright Land will be taking place at Somerset House throughout August, featuring performances, music, dance, talks, workshops and more, platforming both established creatives and grassroots communities. This Bright Land will feature bold and unexpected installations and interactive experiences to enjoy, from a sensory journey through the Wonder Garden created in partnership with Jo Malone London, to complimentary make-up services in the futuristic custom-built Clubhouse in partnership with M·A·C Cosmetics, and a ride on a 35m Observation Wheel offering breath-taking views of London’s skyline, featuring a new soundscape installation telling stories from Londoners from all walks of life. By night there will be Vogue Balls, live DJs, Jazz music and flamboyant fashion show. As the event’s official hotel partner, One Aldwych will mark the occasion with an extraordinary installation in the heart of the hotel’s Lobby Bar, designed by resident florist Mark Siredzuk, and inspired by the Jo Malone London Wonder Garden. Guests can make the most of This Bright Land by booking the hotel’s exclusive experience, starting from £787 per night, inclusive of a luxurious overnight stay with breakfast, cocktails in the Lobby Bar inspired by the Wonder Garden, entry to This Bright Land, tickets for the Big Wheel and additional evening party tickets dependant on the day of stay.
Donmar Warehouse
As part of One Aldwych’s ongoing partnership with local independent theatre, Donmar Warehouse, the hotel is able to offer guests tickets and exclusive access to performances, including Director’s Forums, which include a Q&A with the director and leading members of the cast. Running from 12-28 August 2022, with a Director’s Forum taking place on 18 August, is The Trials, written by Dawn King and directed by Natalie Abrahami, which received its world première at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus in 2021, and was a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. The performance puts the climate crisis to the fore, as our generation is judged by a panel of child jurors. Stars of Netflix’s smash hit series HEARTSTOPPER, Joe Locke and Will Gao, are joined by Elise Alexandre, Francis Dourado, Jowana El-Daouk, Pelumi Ibiloye, Honor Kneafsey, Rue Millwood, Charlie Reid, Meréana Jean Tomlinson, Taya Tower and Jairaj Varsani as the jury.
MAMMA MIA! at the Novello Theatre
Just a short walk, or dance, across the road from One Aldwych is the Novello Theatre, where the smash-hit musical MAMMA MIA!, can be enjoyed. ABBA enthusiasts and dancing queens can now enjoy this feel-good musical with a stylish stay at One Aldwych, priced from £911 per night, inclusive of tickets to the show, MAMMA MIA! inspired cocktails in the Lobby Bar, a complimentary curated mini-bar, and an English breakfast the following morning.
