Apéro at One

Provence comes to Covent Garden with Château La Coste ‍and One Aldwych

London, 20th June 2024 – As all eyes turn to the Paris Olympics this summer, the Lobby Bar at One Aldwych brings a much-loved French tradition – l’heure de l’apéro – to London’s Covent Garden, with a helping hand from Provence’s Château La Coste.

The estate’s rosé will be poured from magnums, accompanied by platters of irresistible French bites – think charred aubergine with rosemary and thyme, and grilled courgettes with lemon, pink peppercorns and lavender… Apéro hour is close to sacrosanct in France and especially in the balmy South – when friends come together – to keep in touch, share news and kick off the night, over drinks and nibbles.

Amidst cypresses, stone pines, ancient olive trees and oaks, Château La Coste’s wine estate, 20 minutes from Aix-en-Provence, celebrates a wine making tradition that dates back to Roman times. The vineyard has seven restaurants, including Michelin starred ‘Hélène Darroze à Villa La Coste’. Just like One Aldwych, art features prominently here, with an extensive artspace currently exhibiting works by Damien Hirst. And like One Aldwych, sustainability is a big priority. All the wines are biodynamic and organic, delivered overseas by sailboat. The estate also operates an extensive water recapture facility.

Janine Marshall, Managing Director of One Aldwych said:
“We are thrilled to be working with Château La Coste to bring sunshine and rosé to our guests this summer. Like One Aldwych, Château La Coste is privately owned and run – with art and sustainability at its heart.”

Daniel Story – UK Director of Château La Cost, continued:
“On behalf of Château La Coste, we are very pleased to partner with One Aldwych and to bring a touch of Provence to the hotel this summer. Our estate rosé is perfect to be enjoyed alongside their menu and I look forward to seeing the success of this into the summer and beyond.”

Outside, a glorious display of flowers, created by One Aldwych’s resident florist Mark Siredzuk and inspired by the sun-drenched vineyards of Côtes de Provence, spills out of baskets all around the hotel’s front door. The blush-pink roses and sweet lavender set the scene for a very relaxed, Provençal rendezvous. Santé!

Apéro at One – £65 for two – includes a sharing plate and a glass of Château La Coste Rosé.
Available from 3pm to 11pm every day all summer.
