Not every actor gets a cooking lesson before going Not every actor gets a cooking lesson before going on stage. Then again, not every production has a chicken in the cast. The cast of Ilford Boy paid us a visit for a little backstage preparation of their own, with our Executive Head Chef, Ed Dutton, taking them through the finer points of cooking a chicken. Not quite your usual acting workshop. The reason? We're supplying the chicken that appears on stage during the show. Yes, really. Barbra Streisand, eat your heart out. For the rest of the drama, take your seats at the Donmar Warehouse ✨
Dear lovers of art, intrigue and the occasional in Dear lovers of art, intrigue and the occasional indulgence, A little observation: Covent Garden has never been short of a leading character. Four centuries have passed, yet the stories are still being told. Nell Gwyn, once an orange seller, later the darling of the Restoration stage and a king. Turner, born a few streets away, with an eye for light like no other. Margot Fonteyn, the prima ballerina who made the nearby stages her own. And Rex, a rather distinguished guard dog with a night shift at the National Gallery. One could hardly invent a better cast. We’ve been revisiting their stories, and, as these things tend to go in Covent Garden, a few cocktails have come of it. Each one takes its name, and a little of its character, from the people, places and peculiar histories that make this neighbourhood so endlessly fascinating. Now pouring at the Lobby Bar. Do come in. There are stories best told over a drink🍸

Our skeletal duo have settled into One Aldwych, bringing a touch of Hammer Horror to the Strand. The dog refuses to leave his master’s side. We do admire that sort of loyalty, even if the walkies situation has become rather complicated. Somewhere, Edgar Allan Poe is smiling.
