Fundraising professional Silvia Melchior is the go-to expert for London’s incredible arts and cultural sector. Silvia’s career has led her to the Donmar Warehouse, the 250-seat, not-for-profit theatre in Covent Garden known for its intimate atmosphere where the audience is always close to the action.
Silvia and her team are responsible for raising money to make sure that the Donmar can continue to make the high-quality productions that the award-winning theatre is known for, while still keeping ticket prices affordable for everyone.
Very much part of the London scene, Silvia’s career has taken her to English National Ballet and the Southbank Centre, as well as the Royal Opera House and Handel House Museum, so she sees London through a theatrical lens, there’s not much that she doesn’t know when it comes to discovering just what to catch on stage each season.
Catch a glimpse of backstage chat at One Aldwych as Silvia catches up with Stephen Mangan, star of Noël Coward’s Private Lives at the Donmar Warehouse.

Silvia encourages you to celebrate the joy of performance once more in the West End with an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime theatre experience offering you a glimpse of what it’s like behind the scenes. With an exclusive invitation to a Donmar Director’s Forum event, you are invited to a drinks reception before curtain up, as well as a post-show Q&A with the creative team and an opportunity to meet the cast.
On stage this summer, is the multi award-winning stage and screenwriter Jack Thorne’s play about the birth of a great British institution. This gripping production is the true story about truth and what happened in May 1926 when Britain ground to a halt, as workers down tools for The General Strike.
1 - Regent's Canal
London is such a great place in the summer. We have access to so many brilliant parks, pub gardens and open-air experiences. I’m a big fan of the recently redeveloped King’s Cross area: on a nice evening, you can relax by Regent’s Canal sipping a cocktail from the Lighterman and walk all the way to Camden Town as you follow the trail of narrow boats moored along the way.
2 - SHAKESPEARE’S GLOBE
The Globe Theatre offers a unique experience with the original playing conditions of Shakespeare’s theatre. For something really authentic, why not grab a £5 ‘groundling’ ticket and catch some open-air Shakespeare!
The Donmar Warehouse is back this summer with a true story about truth. It's May 1926 and when workers down tools for The General Strike, Britain grinds to a halt.
