This Bright Land
Explore London with One Aldwych Curator, Michelle Feeney
London’s Waterloo Bridge is one of my favourite bridges in the world. Standing in the centre on a clear and sunny summer’s day, looking out over the water you get the breadth of history of the whole of our amazing city. From St Paul’s Cathedral, with its awe-inspiring architecture, to the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, from the London Eye on the South Bank to The Gherkin in the financial district. It offers an amazing viewpoint and I find it ever inspiring how the constant breeze from the River Thames brings you a breath of fresh air right in the heart of our city.
Take time to wander around historic Borough Market and sample a feast of gourmet foodies. Everything from the individuality of the people through to the diversity of food and cultural experiences all give London its multi-faceted uniqueness in the world.
On a Sunday morning I can’t resist a trip to the flower market on Columbia Road where buckets overflow with beautiful flowers. The ever-changing street life and energy of multi-cultural London never fails to inspire my love of the city.
Covent Garden has been at the centre of my life since I was 21 when I took my first job in fashion in 1983. Watching it evolve over the past forty years, feeding and flowering London, has been an incredible experience. It has always been known for offering the highest quality produce, exciting beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands and the best service and this summer it is once again an al fresco delight!
