Celebrate World Gin Day

Calling all gin lovers! With the promise of wonderful warm days and lighter evenings on the horizon, the summer is always there to tempt us with an ice cold beverage whilst we relax in the sun. And summer is set to get that little bit better with a whole day dedicated to gin for World Gin Day 
 
Over the past century, the juniper spirit has come a long way from treating injured members of the Royal Navy to becoming a favourite tipple to enjoy on a summer’s day.  But how do you like yours? Do you shake things up with a gin cocktail or are you a traditionalist at heart and opt for a classic gin and tonic or martini?
 
Whatever your preference our drinks whizz Pedro Paulo is here to provide that perfect ginspiration with his fun and simple gin cocktail recipes – it is the perfect excuse to gather some friends and enjoy a tipple. We hope the sun makes a welcomed appearance.  

Eneko Basque Kitchen & Bar’s Euskera Mule Cocktail

Serves 1 

Ingredients:

50ml Larios 12 gin 
20ml grapefruit juice
3 orange slices
50ml ginger beer
2 dashes of orange bitters
Garnish: grapefruit wedge, thyme and Angostura bitters

Method: 

Muddle the orange slices with the grapefruit juice
Add the Larios 12 and the orange bitter
Top up with ginger beer and fill with crushed ice
Garnish with grapefruit wedge, thyme sprig and sprinkle of Angostura bitters 

The Lobby Bar’s Fairy Garden Infusion Cocktail

Serves 1 

Ingredients:

60ml Hendrick’s gin
30ml Graham’s No. 5 White Port  
10ml sugar syrup
3 drops of coriander bitters
80ml Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade
Slice of ginger, grapefruit or apple or sprig of mint for garnish

Method: 

Place ingredients together in a glass and stir well 
Garnish with items of your choice
