A dash of flamboyance, a touch of smoke and a pinch of adventure has landed in the heart of Covent Garden on the Lobby Bar’s latest experimental cocktail menu, Spirit of Adventure
. Pedro Paulo and his team of mixologists have been busy exploring the globe and returned with a taste of the exotic.
Reach far-flung corners of the globe on a journey that’s not to be missed – a fluster of flavours will transport you to springtime in Japan with a fusion of sweet notes and floral essences, think mandarin, yuzu and green tea. Take a trip along the Rivière de Charentes where the glistening river meanders through the hills and the sunshine is blissful as this rather surprising cocktail is cracked and the cool flavours flow into your glass.
Traditional instruments and dressed to impress in charro suits, the Mariachi of Mexico provided inspiration in leaps and bounds, a concoction of tropical juice, citrus flavours, tequila and beer will have you reaching for your sombrero to join them in no time!
Let your mind wander to the rolling hills of Tuscany or the bustling streets of Florence with a fun and flirty number – dream of La Dolce Vita as you sit back and sip a sumptuous blend of vermouth, grape juice and Prosecco.
With an exceptional array of flavours and destinations that have inspired Pedro and his team to create such a bold menu, we quizzed the man himself to find out more about his vision for the menu.....
What inspired you to create a Spirit of Adventure?
My team and I wanted to provide our guests with the opportunity to experience some of the world’s best flavours whilst relaxing in the exquisite surroundings of the Lobby Bar in the heart of London.
With so many exotic flavours on the menu, do you and your team have a favourite?
Our favourite is the Butterfly Pea Flower which features in the Ferry Rock Cocktail we infuse our Hendricks Gin with it. It’s an extremely unknown spice which has the unique ability to change colour, originally blue when but when blended with an acid ingredient such as lemon it turns a vibrant shade of violet.
There is so much choice on the menu, how do you recommend we choose which one?
At the Lobby Bar we always like to personalise the interaction with our guests, therefore we help them to choose by first understanding the flavour profile, style, strength they are after. If the guest prefers to leave the decision entirely up to us, we tend to recommend more classic favourites amongst the menu such as the Giants Causeway and the Dolce Vita.
